Pioneer Road Run
Southern Oregon's Oldest Road Run

The Pioneer Road Run is Southern Oregon’s oldest road run and was founded in 1971. Included in this event is the Lance Tooke memorial. Lance was an outstanding runner who was passed away 11-09-93 from a car accident. The Lance Tooke memorial trophies are presented to the top high school male and female finishers in Lance’s honor. These trophies are displayed in their high school trophy case with their names engraved on them, until next year’s race. Sharon Tooke, Lance’s mother presents these awards to the winners. This year’s winners were – Anne Hagy and Elliott Jantzer from Phoenix.

Today’s race had a new 5K course record. Trevor Palmer ran a 15:03, 5K breaking the previously record by 19 seconds. Three age division records were broke in the 5K event: Elliott Jantzer in the 14-18, with a time of 15:55, Trevor Palmer in the 19-29, and Joe King, 80+ in a time of 25:37
